Printable Reward Charts
Motivating charts to track behavior, habits, and achievements.
The Power of Positive Reinforcement
Reward charts are a simple but powerful tool for classroom management. They give students a visual way to track their progress and celebrate their successes. When students see their goals taking shape, they stay motivated and engaged. Reward charts work best when goals are clear, specific, and achievable.
Types of Reward Charts
- Sticker Charts: Students earn stickers for positive behaviors. After reaching a set number, they earn a reward.
- Classroom Behavior Chart: Track whole-class behavior. When the class earns enough points, they enjoy a reward together (movie, extra recess, etc.).
- Individual Goal Charts: Each student sets a personal goal (read 5 books, complete homework on time) and tracks progress.
- Habit Tracker: Daily tracking of habits like reading, turning in homework, or practicing math facts.
- Reading Log: Track books and pages read over a month or semester. Celebrate milestones!
Tips for Using Reward Charts
- Keep goals specific and measurable. "Turn in homework on time" is better than "Be good."
- Make rewards meaningful but inexpensive: extra free time, homework pass, special chair, lunch with the teacher.
- Display charts where students can see their progress daily.
- Celebrate milestones along the way, not just the final goal.
- Adjust goals for different students to ensure everyone can succeed.
- Pair chart tracking with verbal praise for maximum impact.
