Morning Meeting Activities

10 activities to start the school day with connection, energy, and purpose.

• 1. Greeting Circle

  Students stand in a circle and greet each person by name. Variation: greet with a handshake, fist bump, or fun gesture. Builds classroom community.

• 2. Sharing Time

  2-3 students share something from their weekend, a favorite toy, or an achievement. Classmates ask follow-up questions. Builds speaking and listening skills.

• 3. Show and Tell

  Students bring an item from home to show and talk about. They explain what it is, why it is special, and answer questions from classmates.

  15 min Individual presentations

• 4. Morning Message

  Teacher writes a message on the board with intentional errors. Students find and correct the mistakes. Can include math problems or riddles too!

  5 min Whole class

• 5. Calendar Math

  Students count the days of school, identify patterns on the calendar, predict tomorrow's day and weather. Great for kindergarten and first grade math.

• 6. Weather Report

  Student weather reporter checks the forecast, describes the weather, and dresses a paper doll accordingly. Present like a real news broadcast!

• 7. Fun Fact of the Day

  One student shares a fun fact they found (about science, animals, history, etc.). Class discusses it briefly. Rotate the "fact finder" role each day.

• 8. Riddle of the Day

  Post a riddle on the board each morning. Students think about it during breakfast. Discuss answers together before starting lessons.

• 9. Class Compliments

  Students give specific compliments to classmates. "I like how you helped me during math today." Builds positive relationships and a supportive classroom.

• 10. Goal Setting

  Students set one personal goal for the day or week. Write it on a sticky note. At the end of the day/week, check in on progress.
