1. Word Wall Race
Teams race to the word wall to find and bring back vocabulary words matching a definition. First team with the correct word wins a point.
2. Question of the Day
Post a fun question on the board (e.g., "If you could have any superpower..."). Students discuss in pairs, then share with the class.
3. Pop Quiz Teams
Teacher rapidly reads review questions. Teams huddle to agree on an answer, then hold up a whiteboard. Most correct answers win.
4. Think-Pair-Share
Teacher poses a question. Students think silently (30 sec), discuss with a partner (1 min), then share with the class.
5. Exit Ticket Game
Before leaving, students write one thing they learned and one question they still have on a sticky note. Post questions for future discussion.
6. Speed Review
Students stand. Teacher asks a question. If you get it wrong, you sit. Keep going until one student is left standing!
7. Whiteboard Challenge
Every student has a mini whiteboard. Teacher calls out a problem or prompt. Students write the answer and hold it up. Fastest correct answer wins.
8. Vocabulary Charades
Students act out vocabulary words without speaking. Classmates guess. Works great for science and social studies terms.
9. Quick Draw
Teacher says a word. Students have 30 seconds to draw it. Compare drawings and discuss. Who drew it best?
10. Fact or Fiction
Teacher reads statements about the current topic. Students hold up a "F" card (fiction) or "T" card (fact). Discuss answers.
11. One Word Story
Go around the class. Each student says one word to build a story together. The story gets funny fast! Record it for laughs.
12. Class Poll
Ask a survey question (favorite book, food, hobby). Students move to different corners based on their answer. Count and graph results.
13. Thumball
Toss a soft ball with prompts written on it (e.g., "Name a prime number"). Wherever your thumb lands, answer that prompt!
14. Picture Prompt
Show a surprising or interesting picture. Students have 2 minutes to write or discuss what they see, what they think is happening, and what might happen next.
15. 3-2-1 Countdown
Students write 3 things they learned, 2 things they found interesting, and 1 question they still have. Share with a partner.
